Chris Brown has won joint custody of his daughter Royalty.
According to the Associated Press, a Houston judge agreed to the singer’s request to share custody of his 15-month-old daughter with Nia Guzman, the child’s mother.
The two faced off in court late last week. Guzman reportedly wanted to prevent the singer from gaining custodial rights and only wanted to give him supervised visitation. She also requested $15,000 in monthly child support.
The judge ultimately disagreed with her requests, ordering joint custody for the parents with Royalty going back and forth between the parents every four days. The amount Guzman’s requested for child support was also denied. Brown was ordered to pay $2,500 per month.
The court date was a win for Brown, who has expressed his frustrations about the matter in the past.
“Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers. I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets,” the singer tweeted last month.
After the long day in court, Brown posted a picture to Instagram, highlighting the hashtag, #ILOVEROYALTY.”
