When you’re one of the most successful producers in Hollywood, it’s only expected that your wedding day will be meticulously planned out just like the best script. Well, Straight Outta Compton producer Will Packer tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Heather Hayslett, in an intimate wedding at their brand-new Atlanta home over the weekend- and the whole thing was a big surprise to their guests!
On Friday night, around 60 of the couple’s closest family and friends gathered at their home for what they thought was a lavish housewarming party.
Upon arrival, guests were given a brief tour of the home and lead to the backyard where they were instructed to sit at beautifully decorated tables.
After the crowd was seated, the groom and his oldest son, who was his best man, made a grand entrance along with the bride’s son. to a mash-up of the epic score of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Rich Homie Quan’s “Flex, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh.” Next up, the bride’s sister, who was the matron of honor, and Packer’s daughters strutted down the aisle to Janelle Monae and Miguel’s duet “Primetime.”
The bride’s grand walk down the aisle was accompanied by Anthony Hamilton serenading the crowd with his rendition of Teddy Pendergrass’ “You’re My Latest, Greatest Inspiration.”
“When I saw her at the end of that aisle I just lost it,” says Packer. “That whole backyard was crying.”
The couple’s wedding was officiated by Packer’s childhood friend Pastor Charles Jenkins, and the couple decided not to prepare vows, but to speak from the heart.
“I always imagined that my wedding would be just me looking into my husband’s eyes and us professing our love for each other, and that is exactly what we did yesterday,” says the bride.
Packer is well known for producing hit films like Think Like A Man, Think Like a Man Too, About Last Night, No Good Deed, Ride Along and The Wedding Ringer. Next up, he will be producing a remake of Roots starring Laurence Fishburne and an Atlanta-set Drama Buckhead for NBC.
The couple met during a boat ride at ESSENCE Festival in 2009 and Packer proposed live on stage before 40,000 attendees at ESSENCE Festival in 2013.
