Tracee Ellis Ross Remakes Mom Diana Ross’ ‘Work That’ Video

She gets it from her momma!

This week, Tracee Ellis Ross wanted to stress the importance of women loving their bodies without objectifying themselves. What better way to do that -and simultaneously pay tribute to her mom- than to recreate Diana Ross’ 1981 “Work That Body” music video?

“I decided to recreate the video and try to feel the joy of being in my body while offering up tribute to my glorious mother,” Ellis Ross wrote in a short essay on her website.
The popular single, from Why Do Fools Fall in Love, featured a young Diana Ross dancing around in multiple leotards. In Ellis Ross’ new take on the video, she emulates her mother’s moves while wearing similar pieces.

Recently, the younger Ross gifted fans with her rendition of “Lady Sings the Blues” from the popular 70s film starring her mother as Billie Holiday.

The Blackish star hopes to help others “find and be in the joy of your own body!”
