50 Cent Files for Bankruptcy

50 Cent Bankruptcy

Rapper and businessman 50 cent has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today, according to the Associated Press.

Filed under his real name, Curtis James Jackson II, the documents where filed in U.S. bankruptcy court in Connecticut on Monday (July 13). He listed his estimated assets between $10 million to $50 million, with liabilities rounding out to be about the same.

The filing may seem a little shocking, but the rapper’s life has been laced with lawsuits as of lately. The decision to file bankruptcy comes just after 50 was ordered to pay $5 million to a woman who said he acquired an adult video she made with her boyfriend before posting it online without the woman’s permission.

The woman, Florida resident Lastonia Leviston, is the mother of Rick Ross’ child. The video was posted by 50 to get under Ross’ skin during a rap beef. Leviston sued in 2010, claiming the posting nearly drove her to suicide.

In April of 2014, the “Get Rich or Die Trying” rapper lost $16 million in a lawsuit filed by a headphone company who accused him off backing out of a deal and taking the design to another company.

50 Cent has not commented on his most recent debacle.
