NBA legend Charles Barkley makes headlines for his sometimes controversial comments, but this time around he is gaining attention for a very worthy reason.
During a conference call for the American Century Championship’s celebrity golf tournament, Barkley made a surprise announcement that he plans to donate $3 million to be equally dispersed between the historically black Morehouse College in Atlanta, the Wounded Warrior Project and Auburn University, his alma mater.
“I just got a new contract, and my goal is always to give a million dollars a year away to charity,” Barkley said during the call.
Barkley just renewed his contract as a studio analyst for TNT’s Inside the NBA for an additional 8 to ten years.
