A television writer couldn’t have scripted it better as President Barack Obama sat with The Wire‘s show creator, David Simon, to speak frankly about America’s war on drugs and the perils of law enforcement.
As a longtime fan of the critically acclaimed HBO series, Mr. Obama was more than happy to interview Simon with receptive ears to his criticism.
“What the drugs don’t destroy, the war against them tears apart,” Simon said. “The fact that we’ve got people talking about it in a smarter way, gives me a little [encouragement].”
The video posted by The White House’s Youtube channel gave the POTUS an opportunity to illuminate a number of controversial conversations about changes that need to be made in our nation and the policies that need to be revisited.
