J. Cole has proven himself as a top MC in the game, but he is also known for the thought provoking messages in his stand-out music videos. His newest visual for “G.O.M.D.,” which premiered on Monday (March 24), proves to be yet another powerful message from the North Carolina native.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont, the cinematic visual takes the rapper back in time to antebellum south. Cole, who is a house slave, gets little respect from the other slaves until he devises a plan to overtake the plantation by accessing the master’s gun, handing them over to the slaves and inciting a riot.
“G.O.M.D.” is the third visual from Cole’s December-released 2014 Forest Hills Drive. He is currently on tour and will continue through the summer.
