If there was any question whether an ATL sequel would happen, T.I. has confirmed that it is happening.
The rapper revealed that filming is taking place now by sharing photos from the set via Instagram. First, T.I. posted a photo of himself with director Chris Robinson and co-stars Jackie Long, Albert Daniels and Jason Weaver with the caption, “#ATL2 Get Ready.”
The second photo post shows T.I. alongside his on-screen love interest, NuNu, played by Lauren London.
“Shad&New-New #ATL2 #KeepWatching” he wrote.
It’s been nearly a decade since ATL was released in 2006. The original film, which served as the rapper’s first acting gig, was loosely based on the lives of hip hop super producer Dallas Austin and T- Boz’s life growing up in Atlanta. It debuted at No. 3 and grossed $11.5 million in its opening weekend.
No release date has been announced for ATL 2, but we will keep you posted!
