Lupita Nyong’o’s $150,000 Pearl Oscars Dress Stolen
The $150,000 pearl-adorned dress worn by actress Lupita Nyong’o to the 2015 Oscars was stolen from her hotel room in West Hollywood, California.
Sheriffs officials received a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday that the dress was stolen from a room at the London West Hollywood hotel, said Lt. William Nash of the sheriff’s West Hollywood station.
Detectives were at the hotel Thursday morning to investigate the theft by looking at surveillance footage and other clues.
The 31-year-old actress stunned on the red carpet on Sunday (Feb. 22) in the custom-designed Calvin Klein gown covered in 6,000 pearls.
In a prepared statement, representatives for the London hotel told CNN, “This is a terribly unfortunate situation and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”
