Singer Jennifer Hudson took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood last night (Feb. 22) to perform a song from this year’s nominated film at the 87th annual Academy Awards.

Wearing a yellow Romona Keveza gown, Jimmy Choo shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry for the red carpet, the 33-year-old changed into a form-fitting black velvet dress with intricate glitter beading along the top before gracing the stage to deliver an emotional performance of “I Can’t Let Go” from TV musical Smash.

“This is for all the people who shared their talent and their lives with us,. We are forever changed,” Hudson said before launching into the song.

The “In Memoriam” segment remembered renowned actors, filmmakers and craftsman who passed away in 2014, which included Robin Williams, James Garner, Mickey Rooney, Maya Angelou, Misty Upham and many more. Hudson performed “I Will Always Love You” at the Grammys in 2012, following the tragic and sudden death of Whitney Houston.
