R. Kelly Breaks Silence on Aaliyah Biopic
The Aaliyah biopic aired on Lifetime nearly two months ago, and for the first time R. Kelly, who held a significant role in the film’s storyline, is speaking out.
Many who knew the fallen star personally refused to have anything to do with the film and refused to even watch it, including R. Kelly.
“You asked me this question…I didn’t know you was gonna ask me that,” he told Big Tigger. “Listen, I didn’t watch that. Once they said they was making a movie and somebody was gon’ be playing me — can’t nobody play me, homie.”
He added: “You got to know me to play me. You don’t know me, you can’t play me. It’s impossible. So why should I watch something that’s not real? When I’m real.”
Surprisingly, he did not comment on anything else. Seems that his only issue with the film is that the actor who portrayed him did not know him.
