Michael Sam Engaged to Longtime Boyfriend
Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player, is engaged to his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, according to a TMZ report.
The couple has been together since they met at the University of Missouri, where they were both students and athletes.
For the holidays, the 25-year-old football player and Cammisano have been on a romantic trip in Europe. The couple traveled to Spain for New Years before traveling to Italy, where the proposal is rumored to have taken place.
A friend close to the couple shared a congratulatory message on Instagram posting, “People, he is offically off the market!!!! My beautiful friend @vitacamm is getting married!!!!!!! (AHHHHHHHHH!) I love you so much Vit. So damn excited…so ready to celebrate! @mikeysam52 #vitoisengaged.”
It is unclear who proposed to who, but Sam confirmed the engagement by liking the post.
The couple made headlines last year when they shared an emotional hug and kiss on television following the news that Sam had been drafted by the St. Louis Rams.
