Prince To Play Eight-Minute Jam Session On ‘SNL’

Most musical guests that perform on Saturday Night Live usually perform twice during the broadcast - once just before the half-hour mark and once before the final sketch. However, this weekend’s broadcast is going to be a little different.

Instead of two separate performances spread throughout the program, Prince will be performing just once… for eight straight minutes. He will be accompanied by his band 3rdeyegirl for their Nov. 1 jam session.

Prince last appeared on SNL in 2006.

Prince released two albums on Sept. 30: “ART OFFICIAL AGE,” which is largely a solo effort, and “PLECTRUMELECTRUM,” recorded with 3rdeyegirl. Both ranked No. 1 on the R&B and Rock charts.

Chris Rock will also be returning to his old stomping grounds as host on the Nov. 1 episode. It will be his first return to the show in 18 years.
