Hitch is coming to television.
Fox has a comedy series in development based on the 2005 film Hitch, starring Will Smith as a professional date doctor, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the film, Smith starred as the relationship guru Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, who would help ordinary men shape up and land the partner of their dreams that once seemed to have been out of their league. Eva Mendes co-starred as the woman Hitch falls in love with.
For the TV version, Fox has a script commitment in place for a concept that’s being described as a “workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics.”
Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (Made of Honor) are writing the script, with Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television on hand to produce the project.
While it is unclear if Smith will reprise his role as the feature character, he will serve as an executive producer along with wife Jada Pinkett Smith and Overbrook Entertainment’s James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett.
