Hip-hop’s biggest night of the year took place in September when Atlanta hosted the annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, but unless you were there, the only way to see what happened was to wait until Tuesday (Oct. 15) when it finally aired on the BET network.

The two-hour broadcast had performances by Brandy, YG and MC Lyte (to name a few), but DJ Mustard, Drake and Kendrick Lamar ended up taking the spotlight for some of the highest honors of the night.

DJ Mustard left with three of the 18 awards for which he was recognized as DJ of the Year, MVP of the Year and Producer of the Year. Both Drake and Kendrick Lamar left with two each.

Drake lead the nominee parade with eight nominations this year, including lyricist of the year, MVP of the year and people’s champ award. He ultimately took home trophies for Album of the Year for his Nothing Was the Same and Best Hip Hop Video for the track “Worst Behavior,” which was directed by Video Director of the Year-winner, Hype Williams.

Kendrick Lamar won the award for Lyricist of the Year and the Sweet 16: Best Feature Verse for his part in “Control.”
