Raven-Symoné, sporting a silver ‘do with a purple hue, will be featured on Oprah Winfrey’s “Where Are They Now?” segment this upcoming weekend, where she will open up about her childhood and sexuality for the first time in years.
The 28-year-old actress is a rare example of a child star who managed to stay out of trouble, despite being raised under the scrutiny of the public eye. However, Raven credits her absence in tabloids to the guidance of her parents.
“My parents taught me to keep my private life private, to the best of my ability,” Raven said. “They showed me all the role models out there that I could turn into and what I want for myself in the future.”
Fast-forward to adulthood, Raven talks openly about her sexuality and how she refrained from falling into the former-child-star stereotype. She joined the cast of The Cosby Show in 1989 as a pint-sized starlet at the age of 3, before going on to appear in films and star in her own Disney Channel sitcom, That’s So Raven.
Raven-Symoné’s full conversation with Oprah will air on “Oprah: Where Are They Now” this Sunday, Oct. 5, at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
