Mathew Knowles Claims Solange, Jay Z Elevator Fight Was Staged

If Beyoncé’s relationship with her father, Mathew Knowles, wasn’t on the rocks already, it probably is after the claims he recently made to the media.

The former manger and mastermind behind Destiny’s Child made some bold claims during an interview with “The Roula & Ryan Show” on 104.1 KRBE in Houston earlier this week. When asked about the infamous elevator fight between Solange and Jay Z -while Beyoncé stood by- he says it was staged to boost ticket sales for their “On the Run” tour.

The 63-year-old said, “[You have to] sometimes ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times.”

He wasn’t done there. When one of the hosts asked if it were truly possible that Beyonce, Jay Z, and Solange Knowles would stage and leak the tape of themselves arguing in an elevator at an after-party for the Met Ball in New York earlier this year, he said: “All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everybody’s talking about it, ticket sales went up. Solange’s album sales went up 200 percent. Hmm I don’t know.”

In addition to speaking about the altercation, he also hinted towards a possible Destiny’s Child reunion concert and album.

“I still am the manager of Destiny’s Child,” he said. “And when you see Destiny’s Child on TV and you see them doing songs together slowly, slowly. Now they’ve done two. They were recently on TV. I don’t know. It might be another Destiny’s Child album coming. There might be this tour that makes history. That features Destiny’s Child featuring Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle. Can you imagine what that would be like?”
