Sad to say, but another celebrity marriage is reportedly close to being over.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s relationship has been rumored to be on the rocks, and just yesterday Nick confirmed that the couple are separated.
“We have been living in separate houses for a few months,” Cannon told The Insider. “(Right now) my main focus is my kids.”
A source close to the couple has confirmed that there has been trouble in paradise for a few months now, according to E! News.
“They have been living apart for a while. This is not all of a sudden. There have been issues between them for a while. They are not getting along,” a source close to Carey tells E! News. “She wants to end it and it has been in the works for months, which is why her house in the Bahamas and the house in Bel-Air are on the market.”
So what caused the break down in there marriage?
According to TMZ, things went downhill when Nick made an appearance on Big Boy’s radio show in March where he played a game, naming five famous celebs he’d slept with. Of course, he named his wife and went on to say, “Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks and um…oh yeah, Kim Kardashian! Bow! This was easy!”
Apparently, Mariah was not happy — especially about him naming Kim Kardashian — and “Mariah tore into Nick for weeks … feeling humiliated and the relationship never recovered,” says TMZ.
Sources also say Mariah feels like her husband abandons their family when he takes every gig that is offered to them, even though they don’t need the money.
As far as Nick’s issue’s with the marriage, he feels “Mariah has become impossible because she surrounds herself with ‘yes men’” and “she can’t handle it when he dares to disagree with her.”
For now, we don’t know the exact reason for the split, but if we’re waiting to hear another comment from Nick, we probably won’t.
According to new reports from TMZ, Nick and Mariah’s lawyers hashed out a confidentiality agreement as part of their divorce, and under the agreement Mariah has full rights to announce the split on her terms. If Nick comments on the details of the split, there are severe financial penalties.
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey married on April 30, 2008. Together they have three-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
