Pharrell Williams Joins Season Seven Of ‘The Voice’ As New Coach

It’s been a huge year for Pharrell Williams, and it’s about to get a lot bigger. Looks like the trademarked red chairs on ‘The Voice’ just might have to be transported to a room without a roof because Williams will be joining the singing competition series as the new voice coach for season seven.

NBC took to their Twitter earlier today to announce the big news:

Adam Levine, who has been a coach on ‘The Voice’ since season one, welcomed Williams to the musical family, tweeting, “Welcome to the circus dude!” Executive producer Mark Burnett added that he was thrilled to have Williams join the show because he fit perfectly with the “tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches.”

The music mogul will be returning to the singing competition after serving as Usher’s guest mentor in season four. The sixth season is currently underway, with season seven making its debut in the fall. Coaches on ‘The Voice’ have previously been on rotation with Shakira and Usher subbing in for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. The others to fill the red chairs alongside Levine and Williams is still a mystery that won’t be announced until a later date.
