A new Michael Jackson album titled XSCAPE is scheduled to release worldwide on May 13. The collection features previously unreleased songs that have been “contemporized” by a range of producers including Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.
“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world,” says curator of the project, LA Reid. He was reportedly given unlimited access to Jackson’s vocal-only material for the forur decades, who then teamed up with top producers to add a “fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson’s essence and integrity.”
XSCAPE serves as a follow-up to Jackson’s first posthumous album Michael in 2010, which peaked at number three in the US and number dour in the UK. The title song ‘Xscape’ was originally recorded for Jackson’s 2001 album Invincible, but did not make the final track list.
The late artist’s album will be available to pre-order from tomorrow, April 1.
