Mariah Carey announced the updated release date of her long-delayed studio album via a two-minute teaser video on Monday, Feb. 10. It showed footage of the diva’s various career achievements with shots of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, which she topped a grand total of 18 times. That is a rare accomplishment among solo artists, and is only second to the Beatles with 20 No.1 hit singles.
The new release date of Carey’s follow-up to 2009’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is set for May 6. The album was originally scheduled to debut last July, but the singer delayed the debut due to a shoulder injury she suffered while filming a music video over the summer.
Along with her grand news, Carey will also be releasing a fresh single titled “You’re Mine (Eternal)” just in time for Valentine’s Day. Her performance at the BET Honors was taped at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C., and will air on Feb. 24.
