‘The Queen Latifah Show’ Renewed for Second Season

Queen Latifah’s return to television seems to be a success with her daytime talk show, “The Queen Latifah Show,” being renewed for a second season.

The program opened in September with an impressive 1.7 rating and was awarded with the title of the 2013’s No. 1 new talk show. It was the second biggest debut for a talk show since “Dr. Oz” in 2009. Latifah’s talk show, is currently beating out former “Real Housewives” Bethenny Frankel’s daytime show “Bethenny.”

Guests to show have included Chef Spike Mendelsohn, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Donald Fasion.

John Weiser, president of U.S. distribution for Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement:

“We are proud to have the CBS stations as our partners as we continue to build the Queen Latifah show into a franchise brand. We look forward to building on the success of this year’s No. 1 new talk show by delivering the highest quality program to our stations, advertisers and viewers.”
