BlackBerry announced today that it is ending its relationship with the Alicia Keys, who was named as the company’s global creative director in January of last year. The company said in a statement provided to Mashable:
“BlackBerry and Alicia Keys have completed our year-long collaboration. We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual.”
Blackberry reported a $4.4 billion loss in its last quarter, according to the New York Times. In the midst of laying off about 40 percent on its employees Blackberry fired several senior executives, including Thorsten Heins the then CEO.
One of Key’s accomplishments during keys short stint at Blackberry was the launch the BlackBerry Scholars Program, a four-year scholarship for women majoring in technology.
