Students at Savoy Elementary school, located in Washington D.C., are being given the opportunity to be mentored by some pretty amazing people. Thanks to Kerry Washington, who adopted the school when it was named one of the eight schools selected for President Obama’s Turnaround Art Initiative, students can count Michelle Obama, cellist Yo Yo Ma and Washington herself as their mentors.
Savoy was selected partly due to the school’s ability to highlight it’s arts culture. Recently, 105 students from the school took part in a flash mob to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” at the National Portrait Gallery.
