Big news for Don Lemon: the CNN host is getting his own primetime show at 11 p.m.
Lemon — who is currently a weekend anchor and will step in for Erin Burnett when she goes on maternity leave — will host a half-hour program. FTVLive reported the news first on Tuesday.
His new show will replace re-runs of “OutFront With Erin Burnett,” and is expected to begin in December, according to FTV Live. The show will be produced by Piers Morgan’s executive producer Jonathan Wald.
Lemon’s move is the latest attempt by CNN president Jeff Zucker to tinker with the network’s programming. Since taking over in January, he has overseen the premiere of the network’s new morning show “New Day” and the addition of Jake Tapper and Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown,” among other changes.
