Jamie Foxx has revealed his inspirations for his character in Jay-Z’s modern-day “Annie” remake is Diddy.

Foxx is playing a character called Benjamin Stacks based on the original movie’s Daddy Warbucks in the forthcoming musical film, which stars Oscar-nominated child actress Quvenzhané Wallis as little orphan Annie and Cameron Diaz as cruel orphanage owner Miss Hannigan.

Discussing his character on talk show ‘Katie,’ Foxx explained: “I’m a cellular phone mogul. I’m running through the streets of New York, I’m trying to be mayor. And to be honest with you, I’m letting the cat out the bag just a little bit, I’m sort of mirroring Puffy a little bit.”

co-producer Jay-Z, who sampled a song from the classic Broadway musical for his 1998 hit ‘Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)’, is also rumored to be writing new songs for the film. Shooting started in September and Sony has scheduled a release date of Christmas Day 2014.
