He revealed he had split from his supermodel wife just days ago. And now the reason behind the sudden announcement of the break-up of Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr’s three-year marriage has become clear – his affection for his latest co-star Condola Rashad.
The closeness between the pair had been widely reported. But now we can reveal that friends say the Hollywood superstar is quietly dating 26-year-old Condola, who plays Juliet opposite his Romeo on Broadway.
One pal said: ‘Another announcement from Orlando could be on the horizon. Their fondness for each other is obvious.’
However, despite the split, Bloom and 30-year-old former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda appear to remain close.
Yesterday, the pair went for a stroll in New York’s Central Park with their two-year-old son Flynn, looking content in each others’ company.
They linked arms affectionately as they walked through the park, and were all smiles as they arrived at Miranda’s apartment.
‘We’re not friends, we’re family,’ Bloom told reporters.
Last week Orlando, 36, and Condola – who has twice been nominated for a prestigious Tony Award – spoke about their mutual affection in interviews promoting their production.
On Friday, the day Bloom confirmed his split from Miranda, he spoke of how much he is enjoying kissing his co-star.
‘We sometimes get applause after our first kiss because it just goes on and on,’ he told a US talk show. ‘Sometimes I’m like, “I’m not letting go.”’
Condola has been equally enthusiastic in her praise, declaring: ‘What’s funny is we didn’t have to force it.
‘We had a connection from the minute we met, a sense of comfort. We’ve built the relationship we have just by being around each other.’
