Venus Williams, former number one tennis player, gave her mother, Oracene, an awfully generous gift – her 2,804 sq. ft. house in Jupiter, Florida… for free!
Her mother was liable to pay $10 to maintain legal transaction… but I think it’s safe to say she still got a good deal for a house bought for $310,000 in 2000. That year Venus won the U.S Open, Wimbledon and an Olympic gold medal.
According to TMZ, the house with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was signed over to Oracene in September.
Venus ended her season early this year as she battled a back injury and the autoimmune disease Sjögren’s syndrome. Speaking of her struggle last season, the 33-year-old tennis star said, “Sometimes you just have to go through more than what you want to go through. Sometimes you have to have losses. When I had losses, it always motivates me a lot to do better and to work harder. So I realize that I haven’t had a lot of chances to play this year or a lot of chances to play healthy this year, have had injuries and what have you, so I’m just going to have to keep working my way into it maybe more than some of the other players, but I know I can do that.”
Venus is projected to feature at the 2014 Australian Open in January, which will be the first Grand Slam of the year.
