Jordin Sparks and First Lady Michelle Obama In New Hip-Hop Video Promoting Healthy Habits for Kids

A rap video featuring First Lady Michelle Obama?

Kind of — but it’s not your typical rap video.

The Partnership for a Healthier America and Hip Hop Public Health have teamed up with celebrity vocalists to create “Songs for A Healthier America,” a 19-track hip-hop album designed to motivate kids to make healthier exercise and wellness choices.

And in the video for one of the songs, “Everybody,” the first lady makes an appearance — with one of her “Let’s Move” public-service announcements edited into the video.

The lyrics in “Everybody,” sung by Jordin Sparks, urge kids to eat healthy (“you gotta work hard, eat right, feeling good starts on the inside”) and to value their bodies, (“every-body, it’s your body”). Also featured in the video is a dancing Dr. Oz, who first announced the album on his show on June 3, 2013. The entire album will roll out officially next month.

The first lady’s office says that while this album is not Mrs. Obama’s project, it is in support of her “Let’s Move” goals.
