The platinum-selling chart-topping R&B/gospel duo Mary Mary have announced dates for a North American spring club tour beginning April 8 in Annapolis, Maryland, and ending April 29 in Sacramento (please see itinerary following).
The Mary Mary 2009 spring club tour mark the pair’s first evening’s length live shows since the influential gospel singers took home this year’s Best Gospel Performance Grammy for “Get Up,” one of the key tracks on the #1 Gospel album, The Sound.
Clifford Harris, a.k.a ‘T.I.,’ Sentenced on Firearms Charges

Clifford J. Harris Jr., a.k.a. “T.I.,” 27, of College Park, Ga., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. on charges of unlawfully possessing machine guns and silencers and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, announced David Nahmias, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
Harris was sentenced to serve one year and one day in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He was also sentenced to serve 365 days of home confinement and 1,500 hours of community service, with credit for approximately 305 days of home confinement and 1,030 hours of community service that he completed before sentencing. In addition, Harris was ordered to pay a fine of $100,000. Harris has agreed to forfeit all of the firearms and ammunition involved in the offenses and to waive appeal.

Premiering Thursday, March 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, Taking The Stage is a one-hour 10-episode reality musical series conceptualized and executive produced by Nick Lachey (98 Degrees), that will follow the lives of five talented students at the School For Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio. A reality musical series executive produced by feature film and theatre producer Marc Platt who also serves as creative consultant (Honey, Legally Blonde, Nine, Broadway Musical Wicked), the show is the first of its kind to be scored with music performed by cast members in-scene. Each episode of Taking The Stage will feature songs and dance routines written and choreographed by the cast.
Joseph Lowery Hospitalized After Dizzy Spell

Civil rights pioneer Rev. Joseph E. Lowery remained hospitalized Monday morning after suffering a dizzy spell and a fall following services Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Lowery was at the church to serve as the keynote speaker for a special 11 a.m. service marking the church’s 123rd anniversary.
One churchgoer told Channel 2 Action News reporter Anissa Centers that Lowery, 87, did not appear to be in any distress. There are also conflicting reports about whether Lowery passed out.
Dick Gregory, Famed Activist to Fast Until End of Nation’s Economic Crisis

Dick Gregory, 76, world famous activist, author, lecturer and comedian, appeared on the radio and television shows of Don Imus and Joe Madison last week and made an historic announcement in connection with what he called “the inexcusable crisis of humanity in connection with the tragic state of the this country’s economy as a result of the past eight years of greed, arrogance and fear-mongering,” Gregory said.
Gregory called the times the most serious experience of his life, citing the people he meets as he tours the country. “Not since the days of The Civil Rights Movement have I ever seen such fear and anger in the people I meet. Except now, it’s all Americans. We have to take the lead and create humanity where none exists.”
