NextTV, Chicago Urban League’s Business and Lifestyle Television Series, Wins Two Emmy Awards

NextTV, the Chicago Urban League’s business and lifestyle series, was awarded two Emmy Awards on Saturday, November 7 at the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards ceremony. In recognition of its outstanding first season, which included a one hour special and thirteen episodes chronicling the economic empowerment work of the Chicago Urban League in a reality-style format, nextTV won Emmys in the following categories:

‘Precious’ Will Leave Lasting Mark

The global music icon walked away with three of the night’s biggest awards — Best Female, Best Song, (”Halo”) and Best Video, (”Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”). She had been nominated for four EMAs, including Best Live Act. The win for Best Video repeats her win at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), held in New York last September 13. Beyonce used the occasion in Berlin to thank her husband, Jay-Z for “putting a ring on it.”

Wyclef Jean to Receive RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights’ Ripple of Hope Award

Soundtrack to the highly anticipated movie “Precious” set to be released

preciousLionsgate Music, the music arm of Lionsgate the leading next generation studio, in association with Matriarch/Geffen Records, will release the official soundtrack for Lee Daniels’ highly anticipated, prize-winning film PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL “PUSH” BY SAPPHIRE. The soundtrack will be available online November 3rd and in stores November 23rd. It was produced by Daniels along with Mary J. Blige, whose new song “I Can See In Color” will be the first single. Black Broadcasting Network Presents, ‘Raising Boys – Tips for Single Moms’

Black Broadcasting Network (BBN) will premiere its groundbreaking documentary series “Raising Boys – Tips for Single Moms” at Houston’s Angelika Theater, Thursday, November 5th. The four part opus focuses on the plight of inner-city single mothers and stars Houston-based activist, Deric Muhammad, a product of an urban single parent household himself. The premier starts at 7pm CT.

“I believe that much of the youth violence that has spiraled out of control in America’s major cities can be traced to the lack of guidance from strong fathers,” said Muhammad. “The problems start in the home and spill over into the streets. We think we can help.”
