LeBron James to Star in ‘Space Jam’ Sequel with Ryan Coogler Producing

Get ready to see Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew on the silver screen. It has been confirmed that the sequel to Space Jam is happening with a star-studded crew!

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the highly-anticipated film will be produced by Ryan Coogler – since directing the record-breaking film Black Panther. Along with Coogler, Fast Five director Justin Lin will also serve as producer. Terence Nance, creator of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness, will direct the film.

LeBron explained to THR that he loved Coogler’s vision for Black Panther, saying that when he was growing up there were no black superheroes to look up to. “For Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing.” James said.

Lebron’s production company, SpringHill Entertainment, shared the news on Instagram. In the photo, you can see the last name of the cast and crew members with their roles.

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” he said to THR. “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”

For now, there is no premiere date for the Space Jam sequel. But don’t fret – production for the Warner Bros. film is expected to begin during the 2019 off-season.
