Just days after earning EGOT status, John Legend will soon add coach to his list of accolades!
On Thursday (Sep. 13), The Hollywood Reporter announced that the soulful singer will be the newest addition to NBC’s The Voice. Legend will join the 16th season of the hit show as a coach, replacing Jennifer Hudson. He will be joining fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Blake Sheldon – with Carson Daily returning as host.
As THR reports, Legend came to NBC with an interest in joining the Emmy-winning show. The “All of Me” singer took to Instagram to share the exciting news. “’m thrilled to join the coaches of [The Voice]. I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.” He wrote.
Along with Legend, president of the alternative and reality group at NBC, Paul Telegdy, was also thrilled for the shows newest coach. “John Legend is a one-of-a-kind musician and producer with remarkable skills that are beyond measure,” he said in a statement. “His multidimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16.”
The 15th season of The Voice – which features Hudson –will premiere on Monday (Sept 24). Legend’s season is expected to premiere Spring 2019.
