Check Out the First Trailer for ‘Creed 2’

Adonis Creed is back in the ring and this time it will be for a fight for his life and more. The trailer for Creed II has surfaced online and it’s a knockout!

On Wednesday (June 20), the trailer for the second installment of the 2015 blockbuster was released and sent fans into a frenzy almost instantly. In the trailer, Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis Creed, who is attempting to adjust to his newfound fame. Viewers can see the Black Panther star joined by Sylvester Stallone, who will reprise his role as the iconic Rocky Balboa, and Tessa Thompson – as his love interest Bianca.

Sountracked by Kendrick Lamar’s “Loyalty,” the trailer focuses on Creed’s training however Balboa believes that the young fighter is not ready. “You got everything to lose, this guy got nothing to lose,” Balboa says. Not long after we find out that his opponent is a blast from the Rocky past – as Creed will take on Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago, the boxer who killed Creed’s father in Rocky IV.

“Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring,” the film’s synopsis states. “Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.”

Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler has stepped back from helming the film to executive producer, as Steven Caple Jr will direct the second film. It is also reported that Stallone penned the script along with Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker.
