Get your DVR ready! Power will be returning to Starz this summer, and if aren’t already excited for season five, then get ready to flip out because Starz has renewed the series for a sixth season!

On Tuesday (March 13), the network announced that the acclaimed Starz series Power will be getting a sixth season just ahead of the debut for the fifth season. “As Power wraps production on season five, we want to acknowledge and thank our spectacular Power team for producing another great season,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Starz President of Programming per Deadline. “We are also pleased to announce a pick-up for season six.”

Although there has been reports of drama going on behind the scenes, the return of the hit series isn’t a surprise – being that Power is the networks top performer. According to Deadline, The fourth season received acclaim from critics and averaged 9.3 million multiplatform viewers per episode. It also became Starz most-watched franchise, averaging 7.4 million multiplatform viewers for all four seasons.

Power is crime drama based in New York City from creator and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp. The series is led by Omari Hardwick, who stars as “Ghost,” a business man and drug kingpin. The series also stars Joseph Sikora as Tommy, his right-hand man (and everyone’s favorite character…tbh), Naturi Naughton, as Ghost’s valiant wife Tasha St. Patrick, and Lela Loren as Angela Valdes, Ghost’s first love and Assistant U.S. Attorney. For the first time, 50 Cent – who also stars in the series and serves as executive producer– will be putting on his director hat for the season six opener of the hit show.

The fifth season of Power will return to Starz Sunday, July 9 at 9PM!
