Mary J. Blige to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Looks like Mary J. Blige will be starting the new year with a bang! It has been reported that the R&B songstress will be commemorated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to Variety, Sean “Diddy” Combs will join Hollywood Chamber president and CEO Leron Gubler to unveil the star. Although the “Real Love” singer has dabbled in acting, her star will be in the recording category. The ceremony is set to take place on January 11, which is also the singer’s birthday, in Hollywood, California.

“Mary J. Blige is one of the most popular singers of our generation. Fans will be thrilled to see her star on the Boulevard as her career milestones are celebrated on this very famous sidewalk,” Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies Ana Martinez said per Variety.

For more than two decades, Mary J. Blige has been providing the world with soulful hits. The Bronx native produced R&B classics including, “Be Without You,” “Just Fine,” “Not Gon Cry,” “Family Affair,” and “You Remind Me.” Throughout her career, Blige has racked up nine Grammys along with many other awards. Along with her success in the music industry, Blige has starred in several films including, “Prison Song,” “I Can Do Bad All by Myself,” and “Black Nativity.” As for the small screen – she on appeared “Empire,” “30 Rock,” and “How to Get Away With Murder.”

Most recently, the singer will be attending the 75th Golden Globes for her nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Mudbound and Best Original Song for “Mighty River.”
