Nene Leakes Released as Opening Act for Upcoming The Great Xscape Reunion Tour

By the looks of it, it seems that the distasteful rape joke Nene Leakes made last weekend is costing her some coins. The reality star has been given the boot from the forthcoming Xscape reunion tour, where she was the reconvening R&B group’s opening act.

According to TMZ, Xscape gave Leakes the exit from The Great Xscape Tour following the rising controversy surrounding the Real Housewives of Atlanta star. “This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends,” the group’s statement read.

The statement went on to say that they are sending Leakes their well wishes as she “navigates this very difficult period.”

But, have no fear. The Great Xscape Tour will not be without its share of guest surprises, thanks to other supporting acts joining the tour, like “Don’t Take It Personal” singer Monica and Tamar Braxton. The “Just Kickin’ It” songtresses shared their new promo flyer for the tour via social media and announced the availability of presale tickets – notably Leakes is not included.

The rape joke that has Leakes in the headlines this week was said by the up and coming comedian during a Girls Night Out comedy show on October 7. In response to a heckler during her act, Leakes said, “I hope he rape you’re a** tonight when he take you home,” in reference to an Uber driver.

Leakes has since apologized and issued a public statement via Facebook on Monday (Oct. 9):

“I truly regret and apologize for what I said from the stage in Oakland over the weekend. Sometimes words can cut deep and hurt when you have no intentions of them doing so. As a woman and someone who has survived abuse, I regret the words that I used. I made a mistake and I should have known better. I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am sorry.”
