Ray Lewis Blames Colin Kaepernick’s Girlfriend as the Reason He Isn’t Playing for the Baltimore Ravens

Barely a week seems to go by without Colin Kaepernick’s name being brought up among sports commentator circles as the topic of discussion. This time it wasn’t Michael Vick, or some other retired athlete that feels he knows everything when it comes to Kap’s career – oh wait, it was. But instead of his hair or political affiliations, retired athlete Ray Lewis decided to point blame at Kaepernick’s girlfriend.

Tuesday (September 5), Lewis shared with other sports commentators on the Showtime network’s Inside the NFL that he felt that Hot 97 on-air personality Nessa Diab (Kaepernick’s girlfriend) got the athlete into hot water when she tweeted a hilarious meme mocking Steve Bisciotti, owner of the Baltimore Ravens.

Apparently, since Lewis spent all 17 years of his football career as a player for the Baltimore Ravens, it permitted him with insight on the dealings happening behind the scenes. “We were going to close the deal to sign him,” Lewis said. “Bisciotti said, ‘I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football.’ And it never happens because that picture comes u the next day.”

The picture was a collage of two images that were side-by-side. One photo had Lewis with his arm around wrapped around with team owner Bisciotti, the other was a still from Django Unchained where Leonardio DiCaprio was cradled in Samuel L. Jackson’s arm. In that film, DiCaprio plays a slave owner and Jackson plays a house slave that has unconditional devotion to his master.

Diab posted the tweet on August 2, right after Lewis had commented on her boyfriend’s activism.

On the show, Lewis added, “His girl goes out and put out this racist gesture and doesn’t know we are in the back office about to try to get this guy signed. Steve Bisciotti has said it himself: ‘How can you crucify Ray Lewis when Ray Lewis is the one calling for Colin Kaepernick?”

Either way, it’s more than likely no sweat off of Kaepernick’s brow. The former San Francisco 49ers player has been focused on his activism and being a vessel for furthering the agenda of his people through donations and other charitable endeavors.
