Chris Brown, T.I. Among Celebs that Accept Kevin Hart’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge

In the wake of the devastating effect Hurricane Harvey has had on Houston, Texas in its aftermath, celebs like comedian Kevin Hart are stepping up. According to The Huffington Post, Hurricane Harvey has created one of the worst flooding disasters in US history, as of late. Thousands of Houston residents are without homes because of the Category 4 storm claiming their residences. Other residents are missing altogether.

On Monday (August 28), the entertainer utilized his platform to create awareness and a call-to-action to folks to give what they can to those in need and displaced because of this event. More explicitly, Hart challenged the heavy pockets of some major celebrity friends to match his donation to Houston of $25,000.

Hart tagged Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Beyonce, Chris Rock, Jay-Z, Dave Chapelle, and Steve Harvey in a challenge he is calling the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge. “Help me help Houston,” Hart captioned his Instagram post.

Hours after Hart’s social media call-to-action to his celebrity friends, Hart doubled the amount of his original donation, giving him and others who accepted the challenge a sum total of $50,000. He also called out the Houston Rockets basketball team and Chris Paul to put their money with their mouth is in helping Houston residents.

Rapper T.I. was the first to answer Hart’s call and agreed to donate $25,000, but not to the Red Cross. He captioned his post response with a poignant truth, “We ALL need to WORK on coming together & utilizing our resources collectively to do some meaningful sh*t to people who need US more than ever!!!”

A couple of hours later, R&B crooner Chris Brown responded to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge with a massive donation of $100,000, despite owning up to his own reservations of donating to the Red Cross as well. The “Privacy” singer captioned his post, “…my donation will go to the people!”
