Young Thug Donates Proceeds from NYC Show to Planned Parenthood

Young Thug announced that he will be making a very generous donation to Planned Parenthood after his show in New York City. According to Teen Vogue, the Atlanta rapper made the announcement on Twitter following his sold out show at Terminal 5 in the Big Apple.

“I was a teenage parent,” he wrote. “Planned+unplanned parenthood is beautiful.”

In the wake of the news, Planned Parenthood issued a statement to Teen Vogue about the generous donation:

“Over the past few months, Planned Parenthood has seen an unprecedented outpouring of support from both new and longtime supporters and patients — online and through emails, phone calls, donations, and actions. It’s clear that this is a reflection of the trusted relationship people have with Planned Parenthood as the nation’s leading reproductive health care provider and advocate — as this is a critical moment for reproductive rights and health in the U.S. We welcome new supporters of our work and will continue to educate communities about the rights of women, men and young people. That includes a woman’s ability to decide if and when she will have a child, under what conditions, and that she has the support to live in communities without fear of violence. Most importantly, we’re grateful for the outpouring of support, as we will never back down, and we will never stop providing the care our patients need.”

The announcement of Thugger’s donation comes after Donald Trump and congressional Republicans tried to defund the organization. Planned Parenthood has over 600 health centers all over the United States. The non-profit organization provides health care to women and men, including STI testing and treatment, birth control, cancer screening, educational programs and more. Along with Young Thug, many celebrities are supporting Planned Parenthood, including Ariana Grande, Laverne Cox, Kerry Washington, and John Legend.
