21 Savage Stars as Supervillain in Animated Cartoon ‘The Year 2100’

21 savage is showing us that he’s more than a rapper with the release of his animated series The Year 2100. The first of six episodes premiered today (June 28) on the creator WeBuyGold’s Instagram.

With the help of social media, the series is inspired by the rapper’s appearance on ESPN’s Highly Questionable. The photo turned viral meme featured 21 sitting in front of a city skyline with a slick smile, which characterized the Atlanta rapper into a super villain. In the animated cartoon, 21 voices himself as he appears to be a super villain that controls the world with his music, with the help of his sidekick Tootie.

“I’m excited to bring this cartoon villain to life and for my fans to see a new side of me,” 21 Savage said when announcing the series, per Billboard.

Written by Richie Carl and Ian McLees and illustrated by artist and animator Somehoodlum, The Year 2100 is built around the “No Heart” rapper who needs new music to keep his supervillain powers. The futuristic series will premiere weekly on WeBuyGold’s Instagram and will also be shared on Facebook and YouTube – bonus content featuring behind-the-scenes video with the Slaughter Gang leader, character descriptions, and photos will be available for the viewers’ enjoyment.

“This series showcases 21 Savage’s talent and music in a new way. He was the perfect person to develop this creative story around,” Dan Altmann, co-founder of WeBuyGold shared.

According to Billboard, The Year 2100 will be the first of many original animated series from WeBuyGold. It has been reported that stars, including Dj Khaled, Ayo + Teo, and other popular artists, will also have their own animated series from the social-video network.
