Tyler, The Creator Has a New TV Show in the Works

Tyler, The Creator is bringing his creative ideas to the small screen once again, thanks to Viceland. According to Deadline, the Viceland network has its summer lineup set with confirmed premiere dates for new shows and returning shows. Tyler, The Creator’s Nuts and Bolts will be a perfection addition to the network’s rapper-centric programming. Tyler, The Creator has found his new home.

His new show, stylized as Nuts + Bolts, will premiere on August 3 at 10:30 pm. A May 5 tweet from The Wall Street Journal reporter Lara O’Reilly revealed that the show will feature Tyler “finding out how things are made.”

The Odd Future frontman has done something similar to the show premise on his YouTube channel, OFWGKTA, surrounding the music video for his single, “F****** Young”. It was a beautiful behind-the-scenes special where fans were able to gain insight into how his mind works and how a music video comes together. Viewers might find it interesting to see that same insight applied to a long-running format, like a bonafide series.

This is not the first time an idea of his has graced the small screen. The controversial rapper and his hip hop group Odd Future created a sketch comedy show called Loiter Squad, which aired on Adult Swim for three seasons. The series starred him, Jasper Dolphin, Earl Sweatshirt, Taco Bennett, and Lional Boyce - all of whom are members of Odd Future. On July 14, 2015, Tyler took to Twitter, as he always does when he makes announcements pertaining to himself, to announce the show had come to an end. It was “no more,” he said. Furthermore, he added, “It opened the doors up for other things that my boys want to do. That was a great thing, but we’re off that.”

The announcement of his new Viceland show comes less than 24 hours after the “Goblin” rapper took to Twitter to tell fans that his summer European tour was cancelled. The LA native tweeted, “no more europe tour, sorry, next time.” But all hope is not lost for fans craving music from Tyler. Over the weekend, he announced that his annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival had official dates (October 28-29), although no lineup has yet been confirmed or released.

New music is not rumored to be in the works just yet, but you can hear the rapper/producer’s take on a theme song via Netflix’s new series Bill Nye Saves The World. Until then, we guess Nuts and Bolts can tie us over on our Tyler, The Creator fix.
