‘Come Closer’ by WizKid Shows Off Diverse Images of Black Beauty

WizKid highlights Nigerian culture and the beauty of black women in his new video for his Drake-assisted “Come Closer”.

Although Drizzy did not make it to the video, the self-proclaimed Starboy (no relation to The Weeknd), showcases his Nigerian culture and beautiful black queens in his video for the 2017 hit “Come Closer”. In the video, you can see women wearing traditional African prints and African tribal – influenced makeup with a twist. In one popular scene, model Bria Myles (also known as the model who left a lasting impression on Drake who named his 2009 track “Bria’s Interlude” after her) poses stunningly with a zebra.

According to Billboard, WizKid recently signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records/Sony Music International and landed guest spots on Wale’s album Shine as well as Justine Skye’s “U Don’t Know”. RCA Records chairman and CEO Peter Edge shared his excitement to Billboard about the new edition to RCA Records. “We are thrilled to welcome WizKid to the RCA Records family. He has become a superstar in the African music scene and will be a game-changer in bringing African music to the world. We are extremely excited to have him as a part of RCA and are eager for the journey ahead.” Upon inking a contract with RCA Records, WizKid dropped his new track “Sweet Love” on Zane Lowe’s Beat 1 radio show on Apple Music.
