Early April 2017, the “Moves” rapper launched Mogul Prep, a series of small workshops aimed at teaching from low-income backgrounds how to explore opportunities and learn the business side of the entertainment industry, as reported by Rolling Stone. Mogul Prep’s first seminar took place prior to the seminar that took place in Big Sean’s hometown of Detroit. Similar seminars are set for Baltimore, Miami, and Atlanta.

“He honored me and my foundation for motivating the city through my music n messaging and starting an actual curriculum called ‘Mogul Prep’ that teaches kids all the behind the scenes jobs available in the music industry and taught to them at a high school level,” Big Sean added. “This will be applied to Detroit Public Schools come this fall and some schools in Baltimore and more.”

Along with aiding the youth of Detroit, the G.O.O.D Music rapper donated $100,000 to the city of Flint for the victims of the water crisis. He also constructed a state-of-the-art studio in his old high school, which included a wide variety of instruments and computers equipped with software to record music.
