Watch the Trailer: Spotify and Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital Premieres New Show ‘Traffic Jams’

Looks like Apple’s Carpool Karaoke may have some competition! Popular streaming service Spotify and Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital just released the trailer for its new series Traffic Jams… and it looks dope!

According to Billboard, the show challenges a rapper and a producer to create a song in the middle of Los Angeles’ infamous rush hour traffic. When the song is finished, the artists must perform on the Spotify-All Def Digital Stage in front of a crowd of fans. Hosted by comedian DoBoy, who also serves as the driver of the vehicle, Traffic Jams features rappers like D.R.A.M, Joey Bada$$, MadeinTYO, and Jidenna.

Traffic Jams is an exciting new premium series that shows off true talent — recording artists and producers — and their ingenuity, creativity and personalities,” Russell Simmons, co-founder of All Def Digital said in a statement. “It has improvisation, it has performances, and I’m pretty sure it will spawn a few new hits too — it’s amazing and Spotify is the perfect platform for it.”

“Our audience loves hip hop and with Traffic Jams, we want to give them a deeper understanding of the artists and the creative process behind the music. Working with the All Def Digital team, we were able to produce a best in class hip hop series that tells stories that have never been told before and takes the musical performance format to another level,” Tom Calderone, Global Head of Spotify Studios said.

Starting April 4th, a new episode will be released each Tuesday for eight weeks on Spotify under Spotify Original Videos.
