Fox and AMC Theaters Set Free Screenings of ‘Hidden Figures’ for Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, Fox and AMC Theaters will set free screenings for Hidden Figures on Feb. 18th in 14 U.S cities.

Hidden Figures– starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe- tells the story of three African American mathematicians who contributed to the U.S space program. According to Variety, the film has been nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Spencer’s portrayal of Dorothy Vaughan. Hidden Figures also topped the box office grossing $144 million in the U.S.

“The storytelling and message that Hidden Figures carries is endearing and inspiring, and based on the remarkable community support this movie has received. We have witnessed first-hand the powerful impact it is having on audiences,” Elizabeth Frank of AMC shared in a statement. “We’re honored to partner with Fox to help further the reach of this message to moviegoers across the country.”

Fox and AMC Theaters also extended the invitation to local school and community groups, and nonprofit organizations for a special screening. Those who are interested are encouraged to apply here.

The screenings will be held in: Atlanta, Baltimore, The Bronx, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia,  Oakland, St. Louis, Miami, and Washington, D.C. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis and all tickets must be reserved here.
