Atlanta Falcons to Take On New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI

Super Bowl Falcons PatriotsIt’s official! This year’s Super Bowl game will see the Atlanta Falcons face off against the New England Patriots.

The two teams will face off in Houston to take home the title of the best in the league, but for now both are enjoying being the best in their respective conferences. This will make Atlanta’s second trip the the big game- the Dirty Birds previously lost the 1999 Super Bowl-and the seventh trip for the Patriots in the past 16 years.

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Green Bay Packers 44-21 in their final playoff game, and Packers coach Mike McCarthy credits Atlanta fans with showing up and serving as a “fantastic” distraction. “We fell behind and then we got into a game you just don’t want to play, especially in this stadium,” McCarthy said according to the AJC. “The crowd was fantastic it was a great environment to compete in and the noise factored in a little bit for us. We had to take a timeout early and a handful of times we couldn’t get the play in early and it was a problem.”

The New England Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 36-17 for the title of AFC champions.

This year’s bowl is expected to be one of the highest scoring Super Bowls and early gambling stats currently favor the Patriots over the Falcons.

Super Bowl LI goes down Sunday, Feb. 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. on FOX.
