Lionsgate Acquires Tupac Biopic ‘All Eyez On Me’, Sets Release Date

All Eyez On MeThe long-awaited Tupac biopic, All Eyez On Me, will officially be heading to theaters in June 2017 thanks to Lionsgate.

Lionsgate Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to the film and set a June 16th release date, which would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday. The movie follows Tupac’s life and rise to stardom, and stars newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. as the 90s rapper. The star-studded cast also includes The Walking Dead‘s Danai Gurira as Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur and The Vampire Diaries‘ Kat Graham as Jada Pinkett. The film also stars Jamal Woolard as Biggie Smalls (he also played Biggie in Notorious), Harold House Moor as Dr. Dre, Grace Gibson as Faith Evans, Annie Ilonzeh as Kidada Jones, Lauren Cohan as Lelia Steinberg and Dominic L. Santana as Suge Knight.

The first trailer for the film was released on the rapper’s 45th birthday in 2016, and another in September on the 20th anniversary of his death. The film had a previous scheduled release date of November 11, but thanks to the new deal and distributor, it looks like it will get the release it deserves.
