Issa Rae and Jussie Smollett Team Up for New Web Series ‘Giants’

Issa Rae Jussie Smollett Giants Insecure creator and star Issa Rae is teaming up with Empire star Jussie Smollett for a new Youtube series that will explore the lives of a trio of black millennials.

Fresh off of her Golden Globe nomination for her role in the hit HBO series (which started out as Youtube series Awkward Black Girl), Rae is heading back to her Internet roots to executive produce a new series with Smollett. The show was written, produced and directed by James Bland, who stars along with Vanessa Baden-Kelly (whom you may remember as the annoying little sister Kyra on Keenan and Kel)

Giants explores social issues that are either ignored or stigmatized by the black community,” said Bland in a press release. “And regardless of race, these characters’ experiences are relatable to almost anyone because they learn the hard way that when life kicks your a**, you either lie down or fight back.”

Issa also recently graced the pages of Elle Magazine, featured in their Women in Television list, looking fierce in a black cape dress:
