JR Smith Jewel Harris premature birthCleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith and his wife Jewel Harris shared some personal news with fans, in hopes that their struggle will let other couples who are going through the same know they aren’t alone.

Smith and Harris announced, via LeBron James’ Uninterrupted web platform, that she’d given birth to their daughter, Dakota, 5 months early and that she is still currently in NICU under close watch. “We decided to share with the world what’s been going on with our family the past five days,” Harris shared in the emotional announcement. “We know a lot of you guys congratulated us on the expectancy of our little baby girl, but we had her five months early. She’s 5 days old today and her name is Dakota and she weighs 1 pound.”

“We know we’re not the only family going through this, who has been through this or who will ever go through it,” she continued. “That’s why we decided to share what we’ve been going through with you guys. Please keep us in your prayers, and we’ll do the same for everybody else.”

Sincerely thanking God for Another Day of Life❤️️
